Teacher' skills

Every good teacher must have some positive characteristics for being classified as a competent teacher. These skills are essential for the correct process of education.

Here are some basic teaching skills:
-A competent teacher must have a good development when is doing the class; they must demonstrate that they are relaxed, demonstrate their knowledge, that they are close to the students.
-You should stay professional all time; you mustn't act as a child, and you must control yourself when you encounter with any problem when you are in your work center.
-Be creative, find different ways to teach to keep the student's interest.
-Try not to fall in behaviourism, you should be able to teach in different ways and employ multisensory learning.
-Have developed the emotional intelligence, so be able to feel the student’s problems and emotions.
-At the end of the class, summarize the contents and do not give extra information.

Try to follow those basics tips, your students will be grateful :3

Paradigms in Education

A class is compose by a teacher who uses techniques, uses strategies and follows a determinate structure; and a student who should be able to acquire information, analyses it and apply it in trouble resolution.

To better understand, we need to know the differences of strategies and techniques. The first one is the plan for reach an objective and the second one are the recourses for reach some objective.

There are two principal paradigms that are used in classes today:

- The behaviourism, postulate that the teacher is the owner of all the knowledge and the students just have to "learn" (memorize) the concepts and the formulas just for the tests, no more else.

- The constructionism, is a learning theory that learners or students use to construct models to understand the world, to motives a student, and invites to get their own conclusions.

So, What  do you choose?

Do you TEACH or do you EDUCATE?

Do you teach or do you educate? This is a question that a lot of people asked to the teachers of the world.

Most people doesn't know the differences between teach and educate, they use them as synonyms, but there are several differences among them.

First we will define both concepts:
Teach is "Impart knowledge to or instruct (someone) as to how to do something". While educate is "Give intellectual, moral, and social instruction to (someone), typically at a school or university".

Here in Chile and in other parts of the world, the teachers usually teach us the contents about a specific matter, but who can blame them? Just since the last century, the educational world has entered in a change process. The postulate of a paradigm which put the student as center of the educational process is a very huge change, and even that have passed around 60 years since this appear, the educational process hasn't change.

The principal difference between both concepts is:
- Anyone can teach if you know (how to do) something, you just impart your knowledge to someone;

 - Educate usually is a process that occur in house and in the educational center. In home, the parents have to educate with any kind of dogma to their children, I mean that the have to give some moral and social education for their correct behavior. While at the educational center is the art of give the information in function to make the students learn.
